The new video series is created by a player named Mayley Winter, and it is actually called WoW Auction Mastery.  Dugi is a friend of hers, and has been sending out emails on her behalf.  Anyway, as I mentioned before, it’s going to be all video, and it deals with everything from getting Auctioneer set up for the first time to advanced market control and total domination.  Did you watch the video above?  She takes a new character from 0 to 1000g in 4 hours.  On top of that, she’s got even more free videos on the official site!

On that note, Dave Farrell (known in game as Dugi and best known for his leveling guide, gold guide, and most recently his WoW daily quests guide) is releasing an in-depth video guide to playing the auction house for maximum profits.  Whatever strategy he’s teaching obviously works, because in the videos he takes a BRAND NEW character from flat broke to 1000 gold in 4 hours.  

Yes, you’re reading that right.  250 gold per hour on a brand new character.  That’s a tough number to achieve on a level 80, let alone a level 1.  As someone who has been using Dugi’s Dailies Guide for a while now (yes, I hate dailies, but I need rep and I don’t want to PUG Heroics so…) I know the guy puts out some quality stuff, so I’m pretty stoked to get my hands on it.

Then he linked me to his site.  All I can really say is, if you are planning on leveling a Paladin, you should definitely check out Paladin Leveling Guide, as Quanta knows his stuff.  This is his 3rd Paladin, and he has been every spec under the sun, and has leveling down to a science.

The main reason I’m pumped about this is that I’ve never had the time to get all 3 archetypes up to the level cap before, despite having wanted to since release.  I now have a tank in my Death Knight, a DPSer in my rogue, and a dedicated healadin to round out the mix.  This means that my guildies can stop whining about not having a healer and put their money where their mouth is as far as getting me geared up

On a more gold related note, and speaking of putting my money where my mouth is…  After getting my professions capped and getting a few choice gear upgrades, I am now flat broke, so it’s gonna be back to the books for me and see if I can come up with something truly impressive to get my World of Warcraft bank account back in the green.  I’ll be sure to share.

Durotar is my favorite.  It’s huge, and you can go from one end to the other on an epic mount in about 10 minutes.  So what do you do during those 10 minutes?  I like to pull up my favorite WoW mining guide and follow the route for some quick and easy copper ore.  I usually end up with 4 or 5 stacks in 20-30 minutes.  I could probably do it faster, but to balance out my karma I like to occasionally stop and help a newbie polish off a quest or two.

Now I’m not sure about your server, but on mine, copper ore goes for about 20g a stack, sometimes more on weekends.  Anywhere between 80 – 150 gold for 30 mins work?  Sign me up.

When I hit 70, I had made enough gold to cover the cost of my normal flying mount, but I knew that the next 5000 gold was not going to come as easy.  Psychologically, the only reason that first 1000 gold had been so effortless was because my focus was on power leveling to 70.  When you’re paying attention to a leveling guide, you don’t really notice your gold per hour ratio.  I figured if I wanted to actually keep enjoying the game, I had to figure out some way to minimize the amount of time I spent on Elemental Plateau killing Storming Wind-Rippers for primals while still getting a steady amount of gold flowing in.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I picked up that WoW Gold Secrets guide, and one of the techniques I found in there involved auction house arbitrage.  I implemented a few of the tips in there, made some purchases and relisted them, and then went to do some Arathi Basin.  A few games later, I was capping the Lumber Mill when my screen started to fill with “A buyer has been found for your auction of _________”

I worked it out and it turns out while I was killing Alliance in AB, I was making around 40 gold per hour.  Nothing amazing, but considering it took me about 20 minutes of auction house browsing, I was pretty happy.  Since then, I’ve gotten about 75% of my gold from auctioneering, with the rest divided between doing a few dailies, finishing quest chains that interest me, running heroics, and mining (or herbing, depending on which of my toons I’m playing) while I explore Northrend on my epic flier.

Anyone else have a favorite way of keeping the gold rolling in without actively farming?

I was impressed, but skeptical.  I mean seriously, this guy was claiming 297 gold per hour, and I was struggling to maintain a consistent 75.  On top of that, he was trying to tell me I could do it without facerolling daily quests or grinding elementals.  I was pretty sure he was lying outright, and that this would just be a fancy, well-packaged gold farming guide.

I checked over the refund policy meticulously and decided to pull the trigger on it.  When I opened it up, I was a little bit overwhelmed.  This dude wrote almost 300 pages on earning WoW gold! I took a quick skim through it, and found that there was actually a lot of stuff that I didn’t know.  Definitely a good sign, since I’ve spent a good amount of time researching this stuff.

To be fair, there is a decent amount of stuff in here that is pretty common knowledge.  I wouldn’t say that “Gold Secrets”  is filler-free.  What I would say is that the vast majority of the featured techniques are far more effective than what I was doing before, and I decided not to ask for a refund.  It’s pretty much exactly what it says it is, a no-nonsense gold guide that gives you some new techniques to apply to increase the amount of gold you make.  If you want the WoW equivalent of a get rich quick scheme, go buy gold and take your chances with getting banned.  If you’re looking for some fresh techniques so you can spend less time farming gold and more time actually enjoying the game, you might want to check out WoW Gold Secrets.
